We are building something new

Spring is finally here and something feels extra special about this new season we find ourselves in! The earth is asking each of us to plant seeds (figuratively and literally) with the intention of birthing a new way of being. There is so much focus on all that is being destroyed and while I wish the transformation wasn’t violent and oppressive, change is a necessary part of evolution. Side note: I highly recommend listening to this episode of Pulling the Thread where Francis Weller speaks about the desperate need for rituals and initiations in Western culture.

So, what are you birthing into the world? Your answer doesn’t need to be completely fleshed out but it’s worth it to feel into this energy to understand what may be holding you back. We are also being called to let go of our heavy baggage because it doesn’t belong in the new world. When you think of being your most confident, attractive and successful self, what does your doubting mind say back to you? Where does that voice live in your body? This is the work.

Carl Jung coined the term “individuation” which I understand to mean separating from the collective just enough so that you can explore your own inner world in order to come back to the collective with a deeper understanding of yourself and your place in the world. This is a life long process, you can’t set a start and finish date but I do think you can be reflective on how it’s showing up in your life right now. In order to evolve we cannot hold on too strongly to any identity. We have to be able to understand ourselves as individuals AND as a part of the oneness of life.
